Old Brown Java
During the last century when coffee
was still brought into consuming countries by sailboats, the journey from the
Far East to Europe took months. As a result, fresh coffees were stored in the
hull of these vessels in very moist, humid and warm conditions. Aggravated by
the constant salty air, the coffee aged unusually quickly. Old Brown Java is a
mature bean that has been left a couple of years and hence is heavier bodied but
less acidic and has a pronounced sweetness. An ideal coffee to be dark roasted
and blended with others to add power and body to an espresso blend.

Java
Estate
Java is an Indonesia island located
in the Eastern Archipelago. Jampit Estate is one of five government-sponsored
estates that grow coffee on the southeastern end of this island. This great,
mellow, balanced coffee has a pungent earth aroma. Its rich and full body is
a bit lighter then Sumatra. The vibrant, smoky flavor is balanced by a low
acidity. Java blends well with all Central Americans and Brazilians and is
enjoyable by itself. A medium roast is unsurpassed; however, a dark roast is
popular for use in coffee drinks.
